Artist Statement

My piece “Fallen Heroes” represents a truth that not all superheroes are superhuman. It tells of a known and a truth within medicine, that we are just as susceptible to the virus as the people we treat.
With the use of gouache and handmade paper, two wildly unpredictable mediums, I hoped to represent this image and how unpredictable the virus can be even to those who have the image of being in control.

Artist Bio

​As an experimental mixed media artist, Heather Croft is always evolving and pushing the boundaries of her style and subjects. Using her background in medicine, her work predominantly focuses on themes of connection within nature, mental health and the connection between life and death.
